Yoga is a spiritual regimen practiced to keep our mind and body balanced. It originated in India before religions or any belief systems were born, and Lord Shiva is considered the Adi yogi or first guru of yoga.
Yoga is practiced from the pre-Vedic period 2700 B.C to the Patanjali period, the information regarding the practices, postures, and mudras are obtained from Vedas, Upanishads, Smritis, and also teachings of great gurus Mahavir and Buddha.
Slowly the importance of Yoga study has expanded for well being of people and today it is celebrated Internationally on June 21st every year since 2015.
Importance of Yoga in everyday life
Among many yoga sutras, hatha yoga is practiced for sustaining the energy levels of our body which keeps us physically and mentally balanced, it starts with the body, then our breath, then minds, and through inner peace.
The human body is balanced with the universe, Yoga allows us to maintain consistency and harmony of our body geometry with cosmic, to gain a higher level of concentration

Pranayam – It is beneficial for the respiratory system the process of breathing intake and out helps to generate more oxygen in the body
Pratyahara – It helps the brain to promote consciousness from our sense organs by which we can get in connection with external functions
Dharana – It develops the concentration levels of the human brain, which helps to keep the body’s attention and alert
Dhyana (Meditation) – It refreshes the body and mind from the inside and it is generally practiced for peace of mind.
Mudras and Bandas – They are higher levels of yogic practices they are done by adopting body patterns along with pranayam
Yuktahara – It promotes healthy food habits for leading a good life
About the existence of International Yoga Day
The benefits of Yoga are infinity and with the initiation of our Hon’Prime Minister Narendra Modi the practice got recognized internationally to maintain a balanced, concentrated, satisfied, and healthy lifestyle around the world.
At United Nations General Assembly on 27th September 2014, our P.M addressed the importance of yoga and its benefits and suggested 21st June as International yoga day as it is the longest day of the whole year in the Northern Hemisphere
Each year more than 80 countries will celebrate the special day and in India, there will be many public places where yoga asanas are practiced, and there will be a live telecast of celebrations in different places
United Nations have also taken part in the celebrations and different organizations every year come forward to celebrate the day
In the year 2015, when Yoga day was inaugurated, was recorded two Guinness world records were one was for over 35,985 people were taken part in the yoga session and another one was 84 nationalities taking part in an event in India, in the presence of P.M
