Beauty trends have been dominating social media for quite some time. From the 10-step Korean-beauty routine to bold makeup looks, different self-care and beauty trends have become viral on many occasions.
Ever since the pandemic, self-care content has seen a boost in views worldwide. One such trend that is dominating the beauty industry now is the “clean girl” makeup look. This should not be confused with the “clean beauty” campaign, which focuses more on transparency in the process of manufacturing a beauty product.
The clean girl makeup look is a chic and elegant version of the already existing “no-makeup” makeup look. A combination of the aesthetics of skincare and minimal makeup forms the foundation of this makeup look.
Let’s dive into the basics of achieving the “Clean Girl” look.
Base
Achieving (or faking!) flawless skin is the main concept of this look. More effort is needed to put into your skin prep than into perfecting your base makeup. Instead, focus more on using moisturizing products to give your skin the illusion of “glowing from inside.”
Using lightweight formulas for a foundation like a BB cream or a skin tint will give you enough coverage for the look.
Cheeks
When it comes to the cheeks, make them look as if you’re in love. Keep them looking flushed naturally by using cheek tints or cream-based blushes. Make sure you don’t overdo this step, or else you might end up looking like a clown!
Eyes
The eyes must look as if you’ve had a good 8-hour sleep. Hide your dark circles and eye bags using a concealer having a tone close to your natural skin colour and is lightweight. You can add a bit of colour or shimmer to your eyelids but keep them minimal and not over-the-top.
For your brows, try to keep them as natural looking as possible by using clear brow mascara for denser ones or a tinted one for sparse ones. If you want to use eyeliner, try to smoke them out and create a soft line to look more natural.
Lips
Keep your lips as naturally plump as possible. Think about a baby’s lips and try to achieve that look. Instead of bold colors, use the ones closer to your lip color and give you a healthy look. While choosing products, use a satin or glossy finish lip formula instead of a matte formula. This will make your lips look perfectly healthy and kissable.
Overall this look is well suited for people who are not very fond of heavy and bold makeup. It is also perfect for office wear, giving you a sophisticated yet fun look.
