Expressing stress facture during her Gold win, Sindhu backs off from BWC 2022,
With P.V. Sindhu, the Indian badminton legend bagging back-to-back victories, the Indians have always felt pride. Starting her career in 2009, here are some quick synopsises of her before we move on to the recent update.
P.V. Sindhu’s Life Saga
A native of Hyderabad, P.V. Sindhu or Pusarla Venkata Sindhu was born and brought up by V. Ramana and P. Vijaya. Her Father, V.Ramana, was an employee of the Indian Railways. He had played for the Indian Volleyball team and earned an Arjuna award in 2000.
Admiring Pullela Gopichand during his 2001 All England Open Badminton Championship, Sindhu opened her doors of passion for the Badminton sport. In this, her father’s badminton courts at the Indian Railway Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications in Secunderabad helped her a lot.
Her talent eventually started playing after passioning at 8 through learning the basics on the badminton courts. Sindhu’s training was under Mehboob Ali from an early age. After that, she joined a private training academy named Pullela Gopichand’s Gopichand Badminton Academy.
She further rocketed through her career, entering the international circuit at 14 in 2009 and winning bronze. After that, she played in several events like the Asian Junior Championship, Commonwealth Games, and Olympics.
In her famous early days, The Hindu spotted Sindhu during her career when a prominent newspaper published a piece on her daily struggles. With victories all her career, P.V. Sindhu was honoured with Padma Bhusan, Padma Shri, Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna and Arjuna Award.
With the help of fame and talent, her endorsement rates have skyrocketed. She is the second highest-paid Athlete in India, after the Indian Cricket legend Virat Kohli.
Later this resulted in her into Forbes’s highest female paid athletes list, with annual earnings of 8 million USD.
According to an Economic Times report, she states to charge between 10-12.5 million rupees for a single-day endorsement. P.V. Sindhu’s current contract includes brands like Gatorade, JBL, Bridgestone and commerce portal Flipkart.
In 2019, Sindhu created a record by signing a four-year sports endorsement deal for 500 million rupees with a sports brand famous for its badminton products, Li Ning. She had also been in contract for other badminton product brands Yonex for 440,000 USD per contract, spanning over three years.
P.V. Sindhu 2022 Achievements
Starting the Syed Modi Internation, P.V. Sindhu defeated Malvika Bansod for the second time in the final. Later at 2022 Swiss open, She won the title after beating Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan in back-to-back two games in the finals.
At the 2022 Badminton Asia Championship, she performed outstanding from her side, but due to some controversial rounds, she departed the event with a bronze medal. Later, she defeated Wan Zhiyi of China in the Singapore Open title, resulting in getting her the title.
As usual, Sindhu won several CWG medals this time. Starting with a magnificent performance in women’s singles, she defeated Michelle Li of Canada in the final with the full-fledged gold medal. According to the victory, the world number 7 outplayed her 13th ranked opponent by 21-15, 21-13 in the packed NEC Arena, Birmingham.
With this gold, Sindhu became the second only women singles player to succeed in a bunch of medals at the Commonwealth games. She also carried the Indian team to win silver in the mixed team event by being undefeatable.
Withdrawal from World Championship
P.V. Sindhu, the star shuttler, tweeted recently about skipping the 2022 World Badminton Championship event. She further added the reason, stating her facture.
She further detailed to her fans that pre-CWG 2022 quarterfinals, she had pain, but the coach, physio and trainer motivated her for the best.
After she departed CWG with accomplishments, the pain was unbearable, in response to which the doctor recommended rest for a few weeks. Sindhu confirmed a left foot stress fracture through MRI in Hyderabad. She further thanked her supporters for their best wishes and promised them to be in training soon.
As the World Badminton Championship is in Tokyo during August 21-28, the dates have conflicted with her medical prescription resulting in withdrawal.
