The drone travelled 20 kilometres (30 miles) to deliver food, delivering “frozen food,” in just 30 minutes.
Skye Air Mobility, a local drone startup, announced on Monday that it had successfully delivered frozen food to Curefoods, a cloud kitchen startup, using its unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which travelled 20 km (20 miles) in less than 30 minutes. Get ready to have delicious cuisines delivered right to your balcony.
Curefoods is now planning food deliveries to customers soon after receiving food at its Cloud kitchen locations in Gurugram.
Up to six flights per day carrying a payload of 5 kg each in temperature-controlled containers were used during the trials to maintain the frozen food at a temperature of -20 degrees.
Several BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) trials took place at the same time as the frozen food delivery. The drone travelled via Golf Course Road from the CureFoods godown in Jhundsari to the CureFood Kitchen location in Gurugram.
Ankit Kumar, CEO of Sky Air Mobility, said
“that this was an innovative first-of-its-kind effort to use cutting-edge technology for food delivery.”
Due to the ongoing BVLOS trials, we anticipate commercial flights in the upcoming month.
The warehouse and the Curefoods kitchen building’s roof have built-in launch pads for the drones. The testing will help Skye Air comprehend the cost savings that drone delivery will enable them to offer Curefoods.
Skye Air used Skye Ship One, its most dependable UAV, to enable real-time deliveries while ensuring maximum flight safety and continuous temperature monitoring.
With over 1,200 flights, Skye Ship One is currently India’s most trustworthy delivery drone.
Curefoods uses pricey reefer vans and spends roughly Rs. 1.5 lakh per month on the van in order to maintain the desired temperature. We might consider lowering the expense, which ranges between 1.2 and 1.3 lakhs per month, to help combat that.
These figures are illustrative and are still being determined. However, with the help of this study, we can assess how much money can be saved by using drones and this information was provided by the CEO
According to Curefoods’ founder Ankit Nagori,
“We will be looking at B2C food deliveries in the near future, starting with B2B pilot kitchen deliveries which ensure a larger quantity at a lower cost.”
Skye Air was established in 2020 and has thus far completed more than 1500 flights.
Healthcare supplies, agri-commodities, food delivery, and other industries are just a few of the areas in which Sky Air specialises.
