On August 9, Bigspoon revealed that IAN, NB Ventures, Go-Ventures, Lets Venture, Grip Invest, and Anicut Capital had contributed Rs 100 crore to a fundraising round for the company.
“Our journey has been incredible, and we have now provided service to more than 3 million customers. We would consider investing across multiple verticals, expanding our footprint, and adding brands in leading categories with the current infusion of funds. “Both new and existing investors believe in our scaling strategy,” said founder and CEO Kapil Mathrani.
According to the statement, Mouni Roy, a Bollywood actor, and investor who took part in the round would be involved in brand incubation and endorsements.
Speaking about her investment, Mouni Roy said: I enjoy good food very much. I am really excited to be investing in BigSpoon, so I can help share their joy with millions of people across the country. I grew up in a small town, so I love that BigSpoon caters to smaller cities like Tier II and III
Expansion Plans
The business will use the funds to hire senior positions, invest in client technology, expand to over 250 kitchens across 75 locations in India, add brands in competitive categories, and backward integrate for effective production and supply chain.
BigSpoon operates over 80 restaurants in 16 states and 35 cities. The startup intends to launch two new brands and have at least 150 new kitchens open by the end of FY 23
What is Bigspoon?
Bigspoon is a Cloud kitchen start-up that has been operational since September 2019 It is based in Ahmedabad. Minimising the gap between the fine-dining and home-delivery experiences for the customer and their vision is to make great food accessible to everyone.
The company currently has eight living brands under the Bigspoon umbrella – Mehfil Biryani by Zakir Khan, East Pizza Co., Makhni Brothers, Meals101, Oven & Grill, Thali Central, The Wrap Co., and Monkey Fries and is present in 35 countries.
Cities in 16 states with over 80 cuisines. Bigspoon is a cloud kitchen firm that was formed by former employees of Uber, GoJek, and ITC as well as INSEAD and WGSHA. Their goal is to build Asia’s best cloud kitchen at scale.
“Kapil and the Bigspoon team have expanded rapidly both geographically and in terms of traction. We will also use the BigSpoon network to launch a few brands that are doing well in Dubai, as well as to facilitate the expansion of BigSpoon into the Dubai and Middle East markets,” said Neelesh Bhatnagar, Managing Director at NB Ventures.
Cloud kitchens don’t have a dine-in area or walk-in clients; they only make food for delivery.
