Meta, formerly known as Facebook, is working on launching a new pilot that lets a “limited” number of people in the US send and receive money through its messaging app ‘WhatsApp’.
Using the cryptocurrency wallet of the platform that was launched six weeks ago, Novi, WhatsApp rolled out this new feature to a handful number of people in the states.
The news made the headlines by Novi’s incoming head Stephane Kasriel and WhatsApp’s Wil Cathcart.
Novi CEO Stephane Kasriel says in a tweet:
We are introducing a new system to exchange money. From today onwards, we are introducing the new feature to a limited amount of people for testing and will roll out to extend after confirming and promising a smooth journey, sending money, and making transactions to your family and friends is going to be as easy as sending any other attachment.
The company ensured that the users would not have to bear any hidden charges for the feature that helps add, send, and receive money with just a click. It is an instant ATM in your pocket with easy to make transactions.
Novi Made WhatsApp Payment Transaction Easy
Novi will make transactions as easy as sending any other attachments on the Meta platform, WhatsApp, according to the wallet application.
You can access the feature introduced via the paper clip icon on Android or the + icon on iOS, and then select “Payment” from the rolling up menu.
Novi’s site notes there are no hidden charges for sending or receiving the money to any extend, no limits on how often payments are made using the app, and no fees to keep money balance in your Novi wallet or to withdraw it to your own bank account. Payments are transferred instantly with no side clutter.

Since the company launched the Novi pilot just six weeks ago, we’ve been able to test and learn which features and functionality are important to the people and are putting in all the efforts to make the feature work smooth for them.
We often hear that people use WhatsApp to coordinate sending money to loved ones with a single go, and Novi wallet enables people to do that securely, instantly, and with no fees using the features. Payments will appear directly in people’s chats just like any other attachment, Stephane Kasriel, Novi’s incoming head confirms in a tweet.
We’re still in the very early stage in the Novi pilot journey, so for better, we made the decision to test this new entry point in one country with some people to start. Later, we will look to extend it to other people once we’ve heard what they think of this new experience with the feature.
Using Novi wallet will not affect the privacy status of the messaging app, which is still and will always be end-to-end encrypted, Will Cathcart added.
WhatsApp US revolves around the Novi wallet, the crypto-currency platform, and tests the functionality to work properly, but it deployed last year in India. The traditional fiat currencies were introduced in Brazil to offer payment methods to the public.
