Dr. Binish Desai (Social Entrepreneur, Environmentalist & Innovator) is truly an inspiring idol for society with his revolutionary idea of making eco-friendly bricks from industrial paper waste.

He was just 10-year-old when he came up with an idea in his school time incident, experimenting with chewing gum & paper that became a turning point of his life.

At the age of 23, Binish Desai from Gujarat transformed his ideas into reality and developed p-block bricks made out of waste produced by paper mills, by-products of chewing gum & some organic binders. These are the low-cost bricks that could be used for infrastructural purposes.

In 2016, Binish founded its first company, Eco-Electic Technologies which creates eco-friendly solutions for household and industrial waste by transforming them into assets. They already recycled more than 2000 tonnes of waste and developed more than 190 eco-products.

The Company also constructed over 20,000 toilets, houses, and buildings across Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh.

Binish also founded Eco Light Studio, which empowers uneducated rural women and widows by providing employment opportunities. The company manufacturing household products like clocks, bags, lamps, and other accessories.

It was founded with the idea of having micro-enterprises in every village that empowers the business in the rural areas.

The company’s latest innovations made out of waste are lamps and chandeliers. The handcrafted lamps are completely made from secondary paper sludge waste and are also eco-friendly. These lamps are available in 8 different models.

    Latest Initiatives for Eco-Friendly Solution

Binish Desai’s latest innovation is Brick-2.0 which is made from recycling PPE Face masks and kits. Initially, they built more than 40,000 bricks for projects including houses and factories and now producing 15,000 bricks per day. This comes as a global recycling solution and addressing environmental hazards.

These PPE kits are made out of polypropylene plastic and can take hundreds of years to degrade. The increase in the number of COVID-19 cases worldwide is also increasing the demand for PPE packages. Such innovation is an environmentally friendly solution.

In 2018, Binish was featured in the list of Forbes Asia’s 30 under 30 Successful Social Entrepreneurs. Nikhil Chandwania published a book on Binish’s Journey and named his book – ‘The Recycle Man: Journey of a 10-Year-Old Boy to Becoming a Waste Warrior.’

Binish also involves in educating school and college students on the importance of waste management through specially designed waste management courses.

Binish’s goal is to make the country waste-free and said that if everyone helps with recycling and waste management, we can build a better world in the future.

Currently, the company is developing new products for use in coronavirus control, but the result may also be used for other products and other purposes. He also dreams to make 3D printing houses in the future.
