SRH Captain Kane Williamson played a significant knock of 57 runs in 46 balls and made sure that SRH continued their winning momentum as earlier they convincingly defeated CSK, who now have lost 4 matches out of 4 and are on the cusp of early elimination.
As a team, they must win at least 7 out of 14 games, which appears to be a difficult task for MI and CSK, as winning 5 games in a row will not be easy.
SRH would be wary of the fact that they have to target 8 wins as there are “n” chances that teams would get tied on 14 points, which could make the qualification race a spicy one.
Abhishek Sharma continues his good form
Abhishek Sharma of SRH scored a breezy 42 runs in 32 balls and has made a statement that his knock against CSK was by no means a fluke. SRH took a sensible and what can be said to be a controversial decision by not retaining Warner, as now Abhishek Sharma is scoring runs, not on Warner’s scale, but has started to make in-roads.
SRH fans would be fumed as Warner is not there. SRH management should not forget that he was behind the 2016 triumph.
All in all, Abhishek Sharma has started making inroads, and he has a good opening partner in the form of Kane Williamson, who can change gears quickly. Most importantly, their opening pair are toying with the bowlers.
Hardik Pandya shines on the big stage
The GT team was in a spot of bother when GT’s score was 64-3. Pandya took time to get his eye in and then went bang bang. He scored an unbeaten 50 in 42 balls.
He had a fierce contest with the speedster, Umran Malik. Hardik showed how to tackle a fast pacer who was just racking up the express pace. Selectors have largely ignored Hardik because of his poor performance, which has led to speculation that he is mentally unbalanced.
Venkatesh Iyer appears to have cemented his place in the side, as his left-handed batting can be game-changing, as he demonstrated in the recently concluded India Vs West Indies T20I Series.
All in all, Hardik has started making progress towards making a comeback to the national side, which currently looks like a long rally ahead as Hardik had a forgettable ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
Kane Williamson makes a statement by notching up an unbeaten half-century
Captain of SRH Kane may not be a basher, but he has the technique to succeed at this level. SRH believed that Kane would get back to the 2018 season where he took the team to the finals.
In that season, he was at his best as he made sure that the bat was doing the talking and was spot on with captaincy as his SRH team had bundled out MI for 80 odd runs while defending 130 odd runs.
All in all, SRH fans have something to cheer about as they are starting to look dangerous as it has often been seen that the orange army slowly disseminates the opponent.
T Natarajan makes a case for himself
The left-arm fast bowler was immaculate with the ball in hand as he gave away 34 runs in his 4 over spell and took 2 crucial wickets. His line and length were bang on target as often it is seen that Natarajan is a lethal bowler who can work magic on any given day.
All in all, Natarajan would hope and believe that he continues his good form as his 4 overs are equivalent to 8 as he has the knack of slowing down the run rate and at the same time picking up a handful of wickets.
