Every day, billions of plastic items end up in the oceans and waterways, choking them and posing a serious threat to plants and animals.
Year by year, the usage and production are increasing. It is estimated that 583 plastic bottles will be produced in 2021, which is 100 billion more produced than 5 yrs ago.
If we are ever going to get rid of plastic, there must be an alternative or substitute for it. With this idea in mind, Ruchi Jain, an 18-year-old entrepreneur from Pune, founded an eco-friendly, biodegradable, and sustainable home-needs company “Paivi Enterprise.”
While researching plastic usage, Paivi found that on average, per person in his life uses around 34, 000 plastic straws, and it takes 500 years for them to descend into the soil, which harms 600 species.
How Did Paivi Take Place?
Ruchi Jain started Paivi in 2019. She grew up around people who were entrepreneurs, and that was the passion carried by Ruchi.
She was like hunting for ideas about what to start, and if the products that are used in everyday life can give a light towards growing business, they can lead to the production of straws and toothbrushes, which are used daily and can be scaled.
While conducting research, Paivi discovered some shocking facts. They’re about excessive plastic use and the length of time it takes to descend. And by looking at all these things, she asked herself, “Is this the legacy we want to leave for future generations, or at least for six to seven generations, too, if the earth remains a sustainable planet at that time.“
Instead, I considered making eco-friendly products. which can be challenging and scalable for business while also helping the environment by doing a small amount on her own.

About the Production of the Company
The company creates eco-friendly products such as bamboo toothbrushes, edible rice and wheat drinking straws, wooden combs, loofahs for dishwashing, biodegradable pens and pencils, and husk razors out of 100% biodegradable materials.
Paivi products are used in many hotels, and bulk orders are placed from different restaurants. The products are also available on e-commerce websites. Within two years, the company began to earn profits six months after its establishment.
Mission of PAIVI ENTERPRISE
The company aims to fulfill the Indian government’s decision to rid India of single-use plastic by 2022. The products that they sell will skip filling land filles, and the products will be completely recycled or decomposed back into the earth without creating any pollution.
People started changing their mindsets and became interested in using eco-friendly products after seeing the impact of climate change on glaciers, land, and the sea.
While it may seem like a small thing, using eco-friendly products like toothbrushes, combs, and even shaving razors can have an enormous impact on the environment. This is the goal of Ruchi, which is trying to change the habits of every person in the world.
Future Plans
After achieving the targets in its home country, Paivi is planning to explore its product and its thought-green mission globally. The company is trying to expand its business overseas and in many geographical areas.
Paivi Enterprise is trying to raise funds for the increase in productivity and demand. It is also trying to decrease the production costs by using different techniques and developing a distribution channel to market flexibility in different places.
CONCLUSION
Whatever we give to nature, it will give back to us more than what we gave, so the startup idea of Ruchi and her contribution to the green mission will give back her very successful and fair results.
