Nowadays, teenage drug addiction is one of the most serious issues in India, as we noticed in the media. There are several reasons why teens are attracted and get addicted to the use of alcohol or drugs. Let’s discuss some of the main issues of teenagers’ addiction to drugs and alcohol.

It is essential to be a parent; we need to understand these causes and talk with our kids about the dangerous consequences of drinking and taking drugs.

    Mimicking Others

Teenagers see others, their parents, consuming alcohol, vaping, and sometimes consuming different kinds of stuff. They try to copy them as they find it cool. Teen parties often revolved around drinking and using weed. Sometimes just because friends force them, they see everyone is enjoying it, so they don’t find anything wrong to try it. They can use such kinds of stuff as those are easily available. They take using drugs as a part of the teenage adventure.

    Popular media

It is said that entertainment is a good means of enlightenment, and media is the source of entertainment. But unfortunately, our media is pulling our kids towards bad habits. So we need to be serious about our son/daughter’s awareness of the media they are consuming. The songs teens often listen to make drinking and smoking cool. Movies, TV shows, and nowadays Web series make drugs OK to do.

    Incidents

When teens are unhappy and frustrated, they may turn to chemicals for getting a piece of mind. It depends on what they are using; they will live a blissfully unconscious, happy, energetic, and confident experience. Teenage years can make children emotional, sometimes even causing depression, so when they get something to feel better, they don’t refuse it. Some of those misuse medical prescriptions to get prohibited medicines used to treat diseases like attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Sometimes to get additional energy and focus on study or sports, they use such medicines as drugs. The teens who have broken up with someone find drugs relievers and also fashionable.

    Loneliness

Those teenagers who find it difficult to keep themselves busy are the primary target for using this kind of stuff. These substances give them something to do, help them kill their shy feeling, and make them mix with other teens. Further, it provides a common base for easy interaction with other like-minded kids.

    Showing-off

Rebellious nature, teens choose alcohol, smoking, or drugs to use to enlighten their personalities. Often alcohol is used as a drug by teens to be aggressive, as the drug of choice for the angry teenager because it frees them to behave aggressively, as they use aggression to show off their angry nature. They use smoking as a tool to feel independent and make their parents angry. To kill feeling like a failure, misunderstand, getting used, young people often use drugs.

    Shortcut to happiness

Teens use drugs as they work quickly, and its effect feels good and high. It is the ultimate shortcut to short-term happiness.

    Lack of confidence

alcohol or drugs influences to do shy teens those things that they might not do otherwise. Many shy teenagers who lack confidence report that they’ll do things under the influence of alcohol or drugs that they might not otherwise, e.g., dance, talk, sing, talk to a crush, etc. Drugs or alcohol tend to their confidence to do anything or say anything to anyone.

    Wrong Information

Every teenage group has at least one person who thinks and assures others that he knows everything about alcohol and drugs, so he claims that there is nothing wrong in starting with little quantity and claims that risk is too minimal.

    Conclusion

Teenagers need to educate about the dangerous consequences of taking drugs and alcohol. Parents need to talk with their children about these kinds of stuff openly.

The media should understand their responsibility towards society. In the name of freedom of creativity, they should not serve nonsense to the next generation.
