The Wankhede clash between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow SuperGiants will be a run-fest, and we can expect scores above 200+
Though this year’s Wankhede Pitches have not been that high-scoring, we cannot rule out a high-scoring encounter due to the red soil being used.
Jos Buttler would be roaring to go as he loves batting in Wankhede, where he has accumulated so many runs that the same applies to KL Rahul, who would like to score some runs under his belt.
All in all, the openers can set the stage on fire, which would make Sunday special for the spectators.
Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals would be grumpy as they had lost their previous match against RCB, where they had the game in their bag.
The likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal have to make sure that they are taking pressure off Buttler, or else the dashing wicket-keeper batter would be bogged down and suffer from timing the ball.
Captain Sanju Samson and the RR dugout should keep one thing in mind: scoring runs isn’t only Buttler’s responsibility as the rest of the batters need to get into the act.
Shimron Hetmyer needs to convert his starts as soon as possible as playing dot balls isn’t going to do much favor for the team. All in all, the batters need to step up to the occasion and score as many runs as possible, as no total is safe in this marquee event.
Lucknow Super Giants
LSG is on a roll as they are one of the teams who are in the top 4. KL Rahul-led LSG would be happy that they have got winning momentum, which is a must in this high-voltage tournament.
KL would be wary of the fact, that his team doesn’t get complacent. He knows that his team needs a convincing victory rather than a last-ball finish, as things can get ugly in such instances.
The team needs the likes of Evin Lewis to take responsibility for wrapping up the game, as the likes of Badoni can pull off a heist once, but not every time.
All in all, LSG has a balanced unit that can rock any team on their day, but they need a proper performance; the bowlers are doing their best and making sure that the batters aren’t chasing a gigantic total, which can be tough due to the scoreboard pressure.
Strategies for RR and LSG
RR needs to make sure that they are not defending the target as Wankhede has small boundaries and, most importantly, chasing gets easier with the dew.
The likes of Trent Boult and Chahal need to make sure that their 8 overs are productive and take 3-4 wickets in between themselves. Overall, Captain Sanju Samson and Kumar Sangakkara must work their magic if they are to win.
LSG’s head coach
Andy Flower and KL Rahul need to remain focused as RR have a destructive batting line-up that can easily put a 200+ total on board. They must find a way to limit the use of sly techniques by batters, or else the game will become a one-sided affair.
Overall, KL Rahul needs to be bang on with his captaincy and be smart, and he should use bowlers for a short one-off over spell.
