We assuredly would have made or thought of projects in school or colleges on Sustainable measures to support the various areas in the country, but only some can succeed. Pradeep Kumar is one such individual, and let’s dive deeper into his story.
Solar panels are often seen in city residences, buildings, and factories. However, in rural areas, they are not so common.
Farmers require electricity for their day-to-day activity but are reluctant to install solar panels as they attract the attention of thieves and are often stolen and susceptible to damage.
To conquer this problem, Pradeep Kumar, who run a solar panel installation business, and farmers hailing from Petwar village in Hisar, came up with an innovative idea.
They developed Solar Trolley that lets farmers generate electricity at any place. The Solar Trolley can carry solar panels that provide electricity of 2 HP and 10 HP.
The starting price for these devices is about 48,000 but can be negotiated depending on the user’s customization.
The Journey of Pradeep Kumar
Pradeep Kumar learn about solar panels and their installation in a six-month course offered by the government on solar panels.
In 2015 Pradeep approached some mechanics from the locality, came together to think of a solution for the farmer’s ordeal, and came up with the answer to move the panels to-and-fro from the field to the farmer’s house, so it would reduce the risk of them being stolen.
Designing Solar on Wheels
He faced a few challenges while trying to perfect the mechanism of the trolley. Pradeep came up with two unsuccessful prototypes.
In 2019 his third attempt was successful, and he began selling the solar trolleys under his company – TG Solar Pumps.
Their sturdy wheels allow the panel to move on uneven surfaces and can even be mounted on the back of a tractor.
Through his website, he displayed how to use his device and its benefits. Now, Pradeep has sold more than 2,000 units and provided free maintenance services for a year.
Other uses and benefits
The trolley has benefited 2000 farmers by allowing them to earn additional income and also generate electricity anywhere.
For example, one uses the solar trolley to irrigate the fields.
On the other hand, the family uses it to run their appliances, so even they can do something for themselves, like starting a grinding business of flour, which will help generate extra income.
According to farmer Haradwari, from Khaliyapur village in Uttar Pradesh, he needed a device to pump water into his fields every day.
He otherwise used a motor which cost him a lot since it ran on diesel, and he had to purchase diesel regularly. One day he came across Pradeep’s solar trolley through a Youtube video and decided to buy the device.
Future plans
He is now developing a device that can be pulled by a bike so that farmers who can not own a tractor can also use his machine.
