Games now can be downloaded on the Netflix app after the latest update.
Initially, only five games will be available for Netflix subscribers, and more will be released later. Unlike some of the games found on the Google Play store, the Netflix games will have no in-game advertisements and no in-app purchases.
A total of five games will be available for download, including two games related to the Stranger Things series.
⦁ Stranger Things (1984)
⦁ Stranger Things 3 (The Game)
⦁ Card Blast (Amuzo and Rogue Games)
⦁ Teeter Up (Frosty Pop)
⦁ Shooting Hoops (Frosty Pop)
To stand out from its competitors, Netflix games will provide in-game translations in different Indian languages like Tamil, Telegu, Indomalaya, and Kannada, giving Indian game developers a chance to work for Netflix.
Talking about this development, Mike Verdu, the head of game development in Netflix, has written that “Whether you are craving a casual game that you can start from scratch or an immersive experience that lets you dig deeper into your favorite stories, we want to begin to build a library of games that offers something for everyone.”
Mike Verdu is no stranger to game development. Being a former game developer, he previously worked at Facebook as vice president of augmented reality and virtual reality content. His other career credentials include head of Electronic Arts mobile game division and stints at other game developers Zynga, Kabam, Atari and Legend entertainment.
GAMES FOR IOS DEVICES IN THE PIPELINE
Netflix also has plans to release games for iOS devices in the next couple of months. Apple has always said no to other companies putting game stores inside its Apple store.
Last year, Microsoft began a Game Pass streaming service, but Apple blocked the app in the iPhone App Store. Apple wanted all 100 games to be listed individually, and Microsoft then used Apple’s mobile Safari browser instead.
Netflix did not have any such issues with Netflix games. The service was first launched on Android devices because the Apple version is still in its early stages.
Microsoft has become a dominant player in the game subscription market in recent years. The Xbox Game Pass service includes Microsoft’s game studio releases. These games can be played on many platforms like Xbox, gaming computers and can even be streamed over the internet to phones and tablets.

CONCLUSION
Netflix has huge earning potential if its gaming subscription model is successful. The video gaming industry has been very successful during the past few years, and the mobile gaming market alone was worth over US $77 billion in 2020.
PC gaming is still the most popular platform for game developers, with 56% developing games for the platform in 2020. The PC game market is expected to be worth $39.5 billion by 2023.
