The Indian U-19 squad, captained by Yash Dhull, defeated Sri Lanka by 9 wickets in the final of the U-19 Men’s Asia Cup 2021 on Friday, claiming their eighth championship at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

India was assigned a revised 102-run target in 38 overs using the DLS system, which they achieved in 21.3 overs, with opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi getting an unbeaten 56 off 67 balls.
India’s only defeat in the opposition came against one of its most formidable opponents, Pakistan, who lost to Sri Lanka in the semifinals.

The competition provided a vital playing experience for the Yash Dhull led side ahead of the U-19 World Cup, which begins on January 14 in the West Indies.
After the competition’s leading scorer, Harnoor Singh withdrew cheaply in the chase, Raghuvanshi played pretty close by Shaik Rasheed (31 not out of 49) to do the job.
Before that, Indian bowlers planned a skilled bowling attack to limit Sri Lanka to 106/9 at the Dubai International Stadium.
Vicky Ostwal was the standout of the Indian bowlers, taking three wickets, including two in a single over, while Ravi Kumar, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, and Raj Bawa each took one.
Kaushal Tambe added to the Sri Lankans’ misery by capturing two wickets in his first three overs of the day.
India U-19 performances over the years
Prior to this, India had won the championship several times in the previous eight releases of the U-19 Asia Cup, which recalls a shared award for 2012 with Pakistan.
In this edition, India finished second in the group, having lost to Pakistan before defeating Bangladesh.
The team also holds the distinction of never having lost a championship game.
