The smartphone market has grown in popularity as smartphones have become an integral part of every user’s life. Over the years, the smartphone with impressive features, high-end performance, and the improved camera quality has made the smartphone market competitive.

To sell their products to users, smartphone brands employ various marketing strategies.  We’ll talk about some of the marketing gimmicks that trap you when you buy a smartphone.

    Table of Contents
    • 1. Cameras
    • 2. Display
    • 3. Battery – LI-ON or LITHIUM POLYMER
      • Battery life depends on the below-mentioned points:
    • 4. Processors
    • 5. Introductory Offers
    • 6. Flash Sales
    • 7. Endorsements

    1. Cameras

We were still stuck in a dilemma, More quantity defined the quality and better output, but that’s not true. It’s just a myth. Dual camera, Triple camera, Quad camera, Penta camera, Hexa camera, do not always make sense. Here, the cringiest thing is that they come in compositions like 12:5:2:2, 12:5:9 and more.

What can a 2-megapixel camera on a smartphone do?

    2. Display

We have different display technologies like CRT, LCD, PLASMA, LED, and OLED.

But keep in mind that only 2 display types were adopted for smartphones. They are LCD, LED, and OLED, where LED and OLED are pretty much sibling kinds of technology.

Brands were rebranding them with their names and XYZ, but keep in mind that while buying a smartphone, check if it has an LCD or LED screen and HD or FULL HD. These are the display standards for an ideal smartphone.

    3. Battery – LI-ON or LITHIUM POLYMER

As we said earlier, the number doesn’t define the output. Battery output and backup are not just dependent on battery size but also on display used and processor architecture.

For example, a device with the latest Snapdragon 888 processor with 5nm architecture, a 4000mah battery, and an LED display give around 8 hours of screen time or a 2-day backup.

On the other hand, a device with the same 4000mah battery, the Snapdragon 425 with 14 nm architecture, gives around 4-hours of screen time or single-day usage.

Battery life depends on the below-mentioned points:

    1. Display Type: LCD/LED-Led consumes less power.

    2. Architecture of the processor

    3. Processor Company

    4. Optimization by the operating system

    5. Battery technology lion/lithium polymer

    So check these out.

    4. Processors

We have four major players in the processor market: the Bionic Chipset by Apple, Exynos by Samsung, Snapdragon by Qualcomm, MediaTek Chipsets by MediaTek, and Hi-Silicon by Huawei.

These processors were built on different architectures ranging from 30 nm to less than 3 nm, with 3 nm being the lowest. The lower the number, the better the performance. Look for the processor with the lowest-sized chipset.

    5. Introductory Offers

Today, every smartphone brand introduces various introductory offers before launching its product. They present it as a reduced price for a limited period, but the negative part is that it is inducing you to buy for no reason.

Most phones that were sold on an introductory basis have no reviews, and most come up with less performance or outdated processors, so take caution.

    6. Flash Sales

The device comes into stock and vanishes in seconds. Creating an image that they were sold in huge numbers does not necessarily indicate a high grade.

    7. Endorsements

Brands used Endorsements, catchy names, catchy ****, shiny colors, and other kinds of add-ons and goodies which add nothing but gimmick. So be aware and think twice before purchasing your smartphone. You got my point.

So, before you buy any device, along with the above-mentioned points,

    • Check for a service center within your range.
    • Check for user reviews on popular platforms.
    • Check the brand’s reputation.
    • Price vs. Specification sheet
    • Genuinity and Mouth Talk

How much are you spending, and what were you getting?
