    As we all know, living in remote and rural areas is not an easy task, especially when the facilities or day-to-day requirements are not readily available. There will be no branded and superior products in the market.

    Due to the lack of a supply chain for inferior products in the second-tier areas, retailers have to run their businesses with limited products. It may be a lack of transportation or that people are not aware of the products available on the market due to a lack of knowledge.

    To overcome these deficiencies in the market and provide technology, supply chain innovation, and empower retailers by using their operational expertise and scale advantage, there is a startup company ‘’Shop Kirana.’’ 

    They aim to bring all the market retailers and shopkeepers on a technical platform and acknowledge them about the most up-to-date marketing requirements and allow them to access goods directly to final consumers.

    ABOUT ‘’SHOP KIRANA’’

    The company was started in 2015 by three co-founders: Tanutejas Saraswat, Sumit Ghorawat, and Deepak Dhanotiya. The first Shop Kirana was connected with Indore-based shopkeepers through a mobile app. It is a B2B platform that works with a vision to skill the Indian retailers with technical power and innovative supply chain management.

    Shop Kirana directly works with the brands and researches their demand and fulfills the requirement through deep marketing intelligence. 

    They are also directly connected with brands with the help of technology and innovative supply chain management to source the product within 48 hrs of its demand. With the company’s vision, retailers are connecting to the 1.2 billion-plus population in India through trading.

    There are 15 technologies and services used by the company, including HTML5, jQuery to G2 stack, and Google Analytics. 

    According to BuiltWith, there are 39 technologies used by Shopkirana for its website, which are viewport meta, SSL by default, and iPhone/ Mobile Compatible.

    THE MISSION AND VALUES OF ‘’SHOP KIRANA’’

    ● The company’s mission is to increase the competitiveness of customers and to boost the list of requirements, space, and attractiveness for business.

    ● To maximize the margins and sales and increase the productivity of the products

    ● To knowledge retailers about the latest technologies and integrate them in the best ways to achieve the goal.

    ● Shop Kirana wants to be a retail-centric organization for all the retailers in India.

    ● It also progresses on other valuable services like Banking, IT, Loans, and Ordering.

    ● They use the simplest systems, tools, and processes for stakeholders to easily process their activities.

    ● They do their job with sincerity and truthfully, even if no one is judging their work.

    ● The organization trusts in the practice of mutual respect. They earn it and treat everyone who is a part of the organization with the utmost respect.

    FUNDING AND INVESTMENTS OF THE COMPANY

    The Shop Kirana supply chain company was first started in Indore in 2015 and now employs 51 – 100 members. Since then, the company has raised funds for a total of $53.1 million in overall 10 rounds of series C funding, It has bagged 20 investors; the most recent being Info Edge and Ajanta LLP, which was raised on January 26, 2022.

    WHAT ‘’SHOP KIRANA’’ PLAN FOR THE FUTURE?

    The company has currently progressed in 6 states and 30 cities with 100,000 stores. They raised funding of $10 million in a Series B round which includes the participation of present investors. 

    The company plans to build a channel for go-to-market FMCG brands to reach middle-class Indian customers through Kirana stores. The company has the ability to bring the international brand to local Kirana shops and also local brands to the Indian scale.

    WINDING-UP

    Shop Kirana empowers local Kirana stores to give competition to e-commerce traders and other organized retailers by providing faster, cheaper, and better services to customers through technologies and data analysis.
