    Who is Raghunandan Kamath?

Raghunandan Kamath is an Indian businessman who founded Naturals Ice Cream in 1984. He was born in Karnataka and was not good at studying. He was the youngest among the seven siblings in the family. His father was a street fruit seller, and he worked with them in his childhood.

    Rusticated From School

Raghunandan Kamath was expelled from the school due to falling in the 10th grade twice. That’s become a blessing in disguise for them as he was forced to work in his family restaurant that was operated by his elder brothers.

Partition Among Brother Gave Him an Opportunity

As he was the youngest among his siblings, due to which no one accepted or believed his ideas, when partition took place among the brothers, each started to work separately and left Kamath with Rs. 3.5 lakh as a capital.

Opened His First Outlet In 1984 at JUHU (MUMBAI)

His family was already working in Mumbai before 1984 when they had a restaurant, but after the partition, Kamath started his venture called Natural Ice Cream. Juhu is considered a premium place for business as it is a favourite place for business class people as well as celebrities to spot that’s a reason he opened his outlet there.

Initially, he started selling ice cream in five flavours (sitaphal, chocolate, coconut, muskmelon, and malai) along with Pav Bhaji because he thought it would be a good combination of spicy and cool. Surprisingly, he received a good response from the folks and, gradually, a large volume of cars was seen in front of his stores along with the star of Bollywood.

WHY HE WAS GO WITH ICE CREAM?

Well, there is a reason behind the hit, as his father was a street fruit seller. He grew up by selling fruit with his father, where he learned how to pick up the best-flavored among multiples. His mother was a housewife and a master in the blending of things. He learned from his mother how to blend something to give it a good taste.

Furthermore, he had his own family business restaurant where they also sell ice cream. For all these reasons, he decided to go with an ice cream parlour.

SOME OF THE REASONS BEHIND THE SUCCESS OF NATURAL ICE-CREAM

    1. They offer more than 130 flavours of homemade ice cream to their customers.
    2. They keep control of their manufacturing units and product supply in their hands that’s a USP that makes them different from their competitors.
    3. Location, they open their outlet at the premium place.
    4. They do not compromise with the quality of ice cream.

    Conclusion

According to a KPMG survey report, that says Naturals comes in the top 10 among Indian brands. Currently, there are 135 stores of naturals in India. In 2020, they reported an Rs. 300 crores annual turnover, which was the highest ever since its inception. Their future is bright because there is a man who is sitting back there who will definitely take it to a new high.
