What happens when two people experiencing the same problems meet?
Yes, they find a solution to the problem. This happened when Girish Nagpal, an entrepreneur from South Bangalore, met his friend and fellow Silicon Valley-based entrepreneur, Kaaman Agarwal.
In many big Indian cities, the metro has enhanced the travelling process for many commuters. People find it easy and convenient to use the metro to travel to work and back. But one drawback that most commuters are facing is reaching the station.
Taxi drivers refuse to take them, as it is a short distance and they won’t benefit much from this, while Auto drivers either charge more than the normal rate on their meter or bluntly refuse to come.
How Metro Ride Startup Idea Came
Girish, too faced the same issue while travelling from Namo metro in JP Nagar to his office in the Central Business District area. Kaaman, too underwent the same situation while using the Bay Area Rapid Transit to reach San Francisco city.
They spoke to around 400 Metro commuters in India and the US. They weren’t surprised to know that this was a common issue for almost all the commuters. They were curious to know whether others were also going through a similar problem.
This gave birth to Metro Ride – an AI-driven EV startup. The fastest way to get to the metro station during peak hours is MetroRide.
How does it work?
Metro Ride is an AI-powered cloud-based application, which provides a 100 % green travel solution (electric vehicle).
Daily commuters who use the metro to travel to work, school, or college can use MetroRide for an easy, faster, cheaper and safer ride.
VIKI drives the process: From managing the AI chat-bot to matching Women, customers with women drivers, everything in the business process is managed by VIKI, an AI engine.
Whenever you want to travel to another part of the city via the metro, all you have to do is open the Metro Ride App and book a ride to your nearby station.
The app shows you a nearby pick-up spot where the electric vehicles can pick you up and drop you at the Metro station. The same process is repeated when you get down at the station and want to go to your workplace.
They charge around ₹10 for the 1st kilometre, and the fare goes up to a maximum of ₹30. The average wait time is about 2 minutes, and women manage 20% of MetroRide’s fleet.
Conclusion:
Founded in 2020, MetroRide seems only to be expanding and flourishing. It has recently announced raising an undisclosed amount from angel investors across India, Silicon Valley and New Jersey.
MetroRide seems to be getting more recognition and users.
