On Twitter, confusion reigned as a few supporters claimed that two of Ajax Dusan Tadic’s assists occurred during the friendly and should not be credited.
According to a tweet from Ajax, Serbia midfielder Dusan Tadic has surpassed Lionel Messi’s record for the most assists given in a calendar year. In 2011, while playing for Barcelona, the Argentine striker established a record with 36 assists.
With 37 assists this season, the former Southampton playmaker has already eclipsed PSG’s Neymar’s decade-old record. In any event, confusion reigned on Twitter, with some supporters claiming that two of Tadic’s assists occurred during friendlies and should not be included.
When discussing the assists in the friendly, a few people mentioned that Messi had 40 assists that season.
Dusan Tadic Career
Tadic had a productive four seasons at Southampton, scoring 20 goals and providing 27 assists in 134 Premier League games. On the other hand, Tadic has developed into an important machine gear piece in Ajax’s group, which won the domestic double last season.
Dusan Tadic also hugely impacted Serbia’s imminent readiness for the World Cup in Qatar the following year, having assisted Alexander Mitrovic’s winner against Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portugal in Lisbon.
