Founder
Starting in 2010, Chumbak is the result of the vision and hard work of founders Shubhra Chadda and Vivek Prabhakar. They are headquartered in Bangalore, Karnataka.
Founders Vivek and Shubhra loved travelling & collecting souvenirs. In 2010 they founded Chumbak to create keepsakes with India themed designs for people to take back mementos for their time in the country.
Initially, products were India theme-based. Now the products & designs are inspired by cultures and art forms from all around the world, blended with fun and colourful designs that are pretty, quirky and uplifting.
Beginning
Shubhra & Vivek started their business adventure with an initial investment of Rs 40 Lakhs which they got by selling their apartment in Bangalore. In a couple more years, they added many more products to its catalogues like stationeries, bags and keys, jewellery, wallets, apparel, and home furnishings.
Chumbak has become one of the India’s most stylish home decor and accessories brands. The brand instantly gained popularity in no time and has become one of the country’s leading lifestyle and decor brand names.
Funding
Chumbak has raised a total of $27M in funding over 6 rounds. Their latest funding was raised on May 6, 2019, from a Series D round.
Investors
5 investors fund Chumbak. Seed fund. In and Matrix Partners India are the most recent investors.
Lead investors include Gaja capital, Narayan Ramachandran and Black soil.
Achievements
● Chumbak has more than 70 exclusive stores across India with over 100 product categories.
