Last Friday, on the mild noon, it was not less than a shock to all cricket fans as South African cricket star AB De Villiers announced his retirement from all formats through a series of tweets.
He last played his international match in April 2018; he was still part of the IPL team Royal challenger Bangalore though.
Here in this article, we’ll talk about his retirement tweet and the best moments and memories he left in the cricket world.
Retirement Tweet
He then added, “Last, I am aware that nothing would have been possible without the sacrifices made by my family – my parents, my brothers, my wife Danielle, and my children. I look forward to the next chapter of our lives when I can truly put them first.
I would like to thank every teammate, every opponent, every coach, every physio, and every staff member who has travelled the same path, and I am humbled by the support I have received in South Africa, in India, wherever I have played.
Cricket has been exceptionally kind to me. Whether playing for the Titans, or the Proteas, or RCB, or around the world, the game has given me unimagined experiences and opportunities, and I will always be grateful.”
Mr 360°
Almost all cricket fans know that De Villiers is also known as Mr 360°. Do you know why?
De Villiers is the only capable player to hit the shots all over the ground.
Stats of AB De Villiers – Mr 360°
If we talk about the stats of Mr 360°, he has 8765 runs on his record from the 114 Tests at an average of 50.66. In ODI, the South African superstar has 9577 runs on his name including 25 centuries and 53 half-centuries. He also played up in 78 T20s, pulls up 1672 runs.
Rapport with Former Indian Captain
De Villiers, alongside Virat Kohli, holds the highest and second-highest partnership records in IPL 2015 and 2016 against Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Lions, respectively. Apart from that, Virat Kohli is the only best friend of De Villiers in the cricket world.
The Man with Zero Haters
It doesn’t surprise anyone to know that the African superstar has more fans across the globe but had the most fans in India. Can you believe that Mr.360° is the only cricket star with zero haters?
This is the end of the greatest era. We won’t see the player hitting 360° in all over the ground. We won’t experience the destruction with class. Players will be in and out in this generation or next, but there won’t be another Mr.360° Ab De Villiers.
All the best for your next life, outside of 22 yards. That pitch, those yards, and especially the cricket crowd will always miss you, Mr 360°.
