Lucknow Super Giants
LSG played with only three foreign players in the last match. Mohsin Khan was replaced by Andrew Tye. Mark Wood was ruled out of the tournament, and Andrew Tye replaced him.

Bishnoi dismissed Uthappa in his opening over.Uthappa got out immediately after scoring his 50 runs. It was plumb, but the umpire didn’t give it out. KL Rahul reviewed the umpire’s decision and its 3 reds.
CSK slowed down:
Chennai’s scoring rate slowed down after Uthappa’s wicket. Moeen Ali and Shivam Dubey added a 22-run partnership off 16 balls. They scored 106 in the first half and added only 33 in 4 overs after the powerplay. Avesh Khan dismissed Moeen Ali in the 11th over.
Shivam Dube and Ambati Rayudu Partnership:
In six overs, the two batsmen scored 60 runs. The fielding of the Lucknow Super Giants was not the best in this match. Krunal and Hooda completed Lucknow’s 5th bowler quota.
Krunal scored 36 runs in 3 overs, and Hooda had 12 runs in the lone over. Chameera dropped a simple catch and misfielded two boundaries. He had a horrible day in the field.
Death overs:
Ravi Bishnoi bowled the 17th over of the match, which is tough for any spinner in the world. He dismissed Ambati Rayudu in his final over.

Lucknow Batting
LSG starts their innings without losing a wicket in the powerplay
DeKock and Rahul started their innings well in the powerplay. They attacked young bowlers, Tushar Deshpande and Mukesh Choudhary. 51 runs were scored in their 5 overs.
Jadeja gave the ball to his most experienced bowler, Bravo, and he almost produced a wicket, but Moeen Ali dropped a sitter at mid-on. DeKock got a life at 30 runs, and LSG finished the powerplay with 55 runs.
CSK breakthrough:
35 runs came from Chennai Super Kings’ 5th bowling option, Jadeja and Moeen. Quinton Dekock reached his fifty in 34 balls. They added 98 runs in the first 10 overs.
Pretorius broke the 99 run partnership by dismissing KL Rahul in the 11th over. Rayudu took a good catch and Rahul got out after scoring 40 runs off 26 balls. In the next over, Tushar Deshpande dismissed Manish Pandey for 5 (6).
Pretorius strikes again:
DeKock got out after slowing down, and Lucknow won’t mind with that wicket. He scored only 11 runs after reaching his fifty. Evin Lewis was aggressive in the partnership; he scored 23 runs off 11 balls. All 12 runs came from Bravo’s 3rd over. He gave away 12 runs from his first 2 overs. Lucknow’s score was 156-3 after 16 overs.
55 runs off 24 balls were needed in the last 4 overs:
Lucknow needed 55 runs from the last 4 overs to win the match. They had only one each left from Pretorius and Bravo. Tushar completed his four overs quota. Only 3 overs were completed from the 5th bowling option and one over was left.
Pretorius gave only 9 runs in the 17th over and the required run rate increased to more than 15. Deepak Hooda hit six in the first ball of the 18th over. He tried to hit a full toss ball over the midwicket and Jadeja took a simple catch at the boundary rope. Bravo took his first wicket of the match.
Ayush Badoni, “Young Talent”:
A young player who is playing his second IPL match, facing the leading wicket-taker in the IPL, Ayush Badoni, played safe in Bravo’s over. He scored runs on his first balls. He knew that CSK didn’t have experienced bowling options for the last 2 overs.
34 was needed now with two inexperienced bowlers and Evin Lewis and Ayush Badoni at the crease.
Badoni started with six in Shivam Dube’s over. KL Rahul called him Baby AB. He swept from the outside of the stump over the square leg.
Lewis targeted an inexperienced Dube and hit 2 boundaries and six from the last 3 balls. Dube conceded 25 runs from him over.
Mukesh bowled 2 wide balls when 9 runs were needed from the last over. Badoni hit six after the two extra balls. Badoni finished the match with 3 balls remaining.
This is the only time CSK lost the first two matches in the IPL. CSK lost their second match while defending 210 runs. Last year, MI also chase down the 200 plus score against CSK.
