What is Metaverse?
In 1992, the term ‘Metaverse’ was first coined in a science fiction novel “Snow Crash” by “Neal Stephenson” in which he visualized lifelike avatars who met in 3D buildings and other virtual environments.
Metaverse comes from the word ‘Meta’ meaning ‘Beyond’ and ‘Verse’ meaning ‘Universe’. It is a platform that is beyond the universe. It has its existence virtually but, it somewhat feels real.

- Presence – The feeling of reality in a virtual space with others
- Interoperability – Feasible to travel between virtual spaces with the virtual assets.
How does Metaverse work?
The future of digital lies in the world of Metaverse, where people interact and live together in their 3D avatars, completely absorbed in augmented and virtual reality. In order to interact virtually with each other, we must have an Augmented Reality (AR) or Virtual Reality (VR) headset.
On Metaverse, we will be able to buy a virtual house and land for our living, attend meetings, go shopping, enjoy sports, watch movies with our friends and many more things that restrict us because of distance.
For example, imagine sitting in Dubai and going for dinner with your family and friends living in Mumbai at a restaurant table booked in Paris.
Who regulates Metaverse?
The way nobody owns the internet, nobody owns the Metaverse. It is an open and decentralized platform. There will be a plethora of companies and individuals who will operate their spaces through it.
Effect of Metaverse on Humans
Consumer addiction is a matter of concern for the development of Virtual Reality. The future of a human being will get lost in the grip of technology which makes no difference between the virtual and the real world. Humans will confine to a place as everything is easily available on Metaverse.
After the arrival of Metaverse, a person is so drenched in the virtual world that he will eventually break his real connections. In the end, he will be all alone, affecting his psychological health.
The growth of digital business
Today, the world’s tech giant companies Facebook, Microsoft, and so on are investing billions of dollars in the Metaverse. Soon their virtual business will come up and, the companies will earn a lot of money by selling these businesses. We will be the target audience who enjoy the services on Metaverse with the help of NFT (Non-Fungible Tokens).
Metaverse is likely to expand the internet by bringing all virtual spaces together on a single platform, such as online gaming, social media, cryptocurrency, and so on.
