Festive Outfits For Her
A lot more thought goes into what women will wear, mainly due to the variety and endless options available in the market. Anarkalis, Salwar kameez, shararas, fusion wear, lehengas or a traditional sari are some of the overall favourites.
Heres how to style them based on your makeup and overall aesthetic.
- Sleeveless Shararas: For unique with a chic touch, colours such as mustard, royal blue and maroon with some mirror work go well with such styles.
- Indo-Western: These styles are becoming more and more trendy each year, combining western with Indian. Think Indian blouses with palazzos or trousers with Indian jackets and Western shirts or tops with lehengas. Any colour and style go with these.
- Elegant Anarkalis: You can’t go wrong with a comfortable flowy Anarkali. Dull golds with light embroidery, cremes and slit from the front version show a bit of skin, adding a bit of nuance to the classic look.
- Stunning Saris: My personal favourite, saris, add a touch of femineity mixed with sophistication. In my eyes, black saris with a light gold border or sequins is a winner, or one could also go for the frilly ruffled style in pastels with florals. There’s so much variety here too, banarasi, kanjeevaram, georgette, silk and chiffon.
- Lavish Lehengas: To go all out, lehengas in vibrant shades and light dupattas with mirror work or bandini look incredible Oranges, magentas, reds and more such shades.
Festive Attire For Him
In the case of men, they too have options, and Here are some of special festive outfits.
- Classic Kurta with Nehru Jacket: Once again, my favourite look. It’s hard to miss when you wear this outfit. Be it a navy blue with a black jacket and crème churidar or Patialas or bright saffron with a matching patterned jacket and churidar for a coordinated look.
- Asymmetric Kurtas: Since Diwali is always an evening or night event, darker tones tend to suit this style better. Blacks, navy blues, maroons and more such colours are ideal, maybe with some light metallic detailing and even a dupatta over the shoulders for an even more Bollywood look.
- Layers: Perfect for the colder weather and adding more suaveness to your look, a kurta with a long sleeve Indian blazer over it and churidar or Patiala is a great look.
- Indo-Western: For men too, wearing a tunic with jeans or chinos or a kurta with a western suit jacket is all the rage. Even a thick black Indian jacket with a pair of beige trousers is an upscale look. Fabrics such as velvet, wool, linen and polyester cotton are standard.
