IPL 2021 SWOT Analysis: Will Rajasthan Royals end their 13 years drought and clinch their second IPL title?
Jaipur-based franchise, Rajasthan Royals were the inaugural champions of the IPL. Since after the first season, even the Royals perform well in some seasons but never won the IPL since then. Last year, the Royals finished last in the league and only managed to won 6 out of 14 games.
Rajasthan Royals released their former skipper, Steven Smith, and give the captaincy to young Sanju Samson. The Royals sought to change their fortunes and pledged to win another IPL title.
SWOT Analysis of RR Team –
- Strengths – Royals have settled a batting lineup with some big match-winners in their rank. The key foreign players like Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer will play a crucial role in RR’s success in the tournament. The addition of allrounder, Chris Morris who was the most expensive foreign player in IPL will be pivotal for the Royals this season. Rajasthan’s side also has some young prospects that will make an impact on last year’s IPL. Allrounder Rahul Tewatia comes as a surprise package for Rajasthan and played some match-winning performance in IPL 2020.
- Weaknesses – Rajasthan has a weak bowling lineup and with English Star Player, Jofra Archer won’t available for the first few matches will impact their performance. Even though, Royals have players like Andrew Tye, Mustafizur Rahman, Jaydev Unadkat, Chris Morris that didn’t perform well in the past IPL season. Royals also appoint young skipper, Sanju Samson who has no prior experience to lead the IPL side. His performance will be crucial for RR’s success this season.
- Opportunities – Rajasthan has a bunch of exciting young talents like Rahul Tewatia, Riyan Parag, Yashaswi Jaiswal, Manan Vohra, Kartik Tyagi, Chetan Sakariya that could determine the Rajasthan Royals performance this year. The new addition of players like Chris Morris, Liam Livingstone, Mustafizur Rahaman will strengthen the side.
- Threats – The consistency will big factor for RR’s success in this season as well. Last season, they played well in some matches but unable to take momentum in long run. Injury Concerns would also affect Rajasthan this season players like Chris Morris will play a pivotal role after Jofra Archer missing in some matches. But Morris had some injury scare in the past.
